| CYP2C19 is one of the most important cytochrome P450 enzymes related to drug metabolism. SureX® CYP2C19 Genotyping Kit analyzes three CYP2C19 SNP loci (*2, *3 and *17) in human genome. Studies show that different CYP2C19 genotypes affect enzyme activities, which in turn increase or decrease the metabolic rate of drugs. Therefore, genotyping CYP2C19 gene can help physicians to estimate the efficacy and side effects of certain drugs, as well as to select appropriate medicines or adjust dosage accordingly. FDA requires CYP2C19 genotyping information before prescribing 18 CYP2C19 related drugs, including platelet aggregation inhibitors (eg. clopidogrel) for the prevention and treatment of acute coronary syndrome, coronary stenting and coronary heart disease; proton pump inhibitors (eg.omeprazole) for peptic ulcer, reflux esophagitis and Helicobacter pylori infection; and some antidepressants, antifungal agents, antiepileptics, antineoplastic agents and so on. |
